It's official, Bruno loves Kevin
This is Rove (a show host) + Kevin Rudd (Our Prime Minister) + Bruno (You all should know who he is). And the last thing you'd expect is for them to be in the same room together/on a show together!
When I saw it on Rove last week I thought it was rather funny. I am easily amused!
Obviously, there were always going to be concerns about a wardrobe clash.
But when Austria's hottest fictional fashion journalist, Bruno, and the Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, appeared on the same episode of Rove Live last night, Bruno sported a sleeveless leather muscle shirt, silver leather G-string and single orange fingerless glove.
And as everybody knows, that's Rudd's church kit.
So there was no embarrassment when the Prime Minister took his seat in his after-eight look; dark suit, blue tie and goofy smile.
Bruno, the alter ego of British comic Sacha Baron Cohen, was understandably intrigued.
"Your Prime Minister? That guy I saw backstage? He's so hot," he drawled.
Mr Rudd, who did not appear on camera with Bruno, confirmed he had been unaware when accepting the invitation that the comedian would also be on the bill.
Mr Rudd joked that the staff member who booked him on the same show as Bruno was now in therapy.
"(After I found out) basically I was in a state of induced panic,'' Mr Rudd said.
And he used the opportunity to put paid to one of the stories about his reputedly hot temper.
Reports he'd chucked a fit because he didn't have access to a hairdryer in Afghanistan were simply not true.
Quizzed about whether he had a bit of a temper, Mr Rudd said: "Have you got a hairdryer?''
He went on to say: "The hairdryer never existed. Talk about a complete fabrication (of a story)''.
Host Rove McManus put his traditional final five questions to the Prime Minister, asking him about a piece of bathroom equipment known as the "Comfort Wipe'' and Mr Rudd's mangled phrase "fair shake of the sauce bottle''.
With more than a hint of double entendre, McManus asked: "How many times a day do you actually shake the sauce bottle''.
After a brief pause, the Prime Minister rejoined with: ``Not often enough''.
Later in the show, Mr Rudd made another brief appearance as Rove's guests parodied what they'd learned this week.
Mr Rudd said that before he appeared on Rove next time, he'd be asking whether "an Austrian fashionista will be appearing just before you''.
